John Blachford BSc (Hons) Osteo, OSCA

John Blachford is both the owner and Principal Osteopath of Freedom Osteopathy & Sports Injury Clinic and Poole Bay Osteopaths.

John started Freedom Osteopathy 3 years ago and last year took over ownership of the well-loved Poole Bay Osteopaths after having worked as an associate there for 7 years. “I want everyone in Bournemouth, Poole and surrounding areas to have access to two first class clinics where they can receive quality treatment”

He holds an honours Degree in Osteopathy, graduating in 2001 and is registered with the General Osteopathic Council and Institute of Osteopathy along with being a member of the Osteopathic Sports Care Association (OSCA).

He has over 20 years of experience working as an Osteopath and Sports Therapist. He also holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering which gives him a unique insight into the biomechanics of the human body.

Over the years John has worked with high-level rugby players, runners, cyclists, judo and karate players along with a stint working with the Riverdance troupe. He spent 8 years working in London after setting up a practice to work with city businesses providing Corporate Osteopathy.

He specialises in the treatment of pregnant women, helping them with sciatica, SPD, reflux, sickness and other pregnancy related problems.

John works everyday at both Freedom Osteopathy and Poole Bay Osteopaths.

Dr. Damon Murgatroyd

Damon has worked for many years as both an osteopath and as a family doctor. He now works purely as a private osteopath in Dorset and Hampshire. He feels that this speciality therapy approach allows his patients time for a full assessment and treatment, followed by rapid and often long-lasting pain relief. He’s quite a sporty character so enjoys being able to treat people to wellness with hands on techniques.

In the past he has taught medicine to trainee osteopaths at Oxford Brookes and has taught osteopathy to doctors at the London College of Osteopathic Medicine. In recognition of the latter he was awarded the prestigious Fellowship award. He also has a Diploma in Musculoskeletal medicine and a Diploma in Care of the Elderly.

Until recently he was an Orthopaedic Physician at Lymington Hospital.

Damon works at Poole Bay Osteopaths on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

Kim Latore

Kim first became interested in complementary medicine after suffering with an illness that started her on a path of research and experiencing many different therapies. She began to realise that we can be in control of our own health and well-being and feels strongly that we should be teaching our children this valuable lesson too.  The most positive way to do this is to lead by example.

Kim experienced acupuncture and Chinese medicine for the first time while studying nutrition. This gave her a thirst to learn more, and the most exciting part, alongside the amazing results, is that there is something new to research in conjunction with the traditional. After all life is about balance.

She completed a 3 year honours degree in acupuncture and Chinese medicine at LCTA London in 2011 after which she studied a 1 year diploma course on paediatric acupuncture with Julian Scott.  Prior to the acupuncture she attended a 1 year course in naturopathic nutrition, including a short course in food intolerance testing.

Kim has completed CPD courses on fertility and IVF support, eye health and Qi Gong.

As a mum of 3, Kim has a particular passion for treating babies and young children and has had great success in treating issues such as:

  • Digestive and bowel problems,
  • Sleeping issues,
  • Coughs and colds,
  • Skin and lungs disorders, and
  • Eye conditions

She also finds it very useful to support the immune system during immunisations or from the side effects of medications.

Babies and children respond extremely well to treatments as their energy is so vital.  The needles do not need to be retained and any pain felt is very short lived compared to the long-term benefits gained.

Kim works at Poole Bay Osteopaths on Wednesday.
